I have once again been invited to join the IS. Gregory and Mr. Nott haven brought it up and I keep stalling. I fear I am the only one of my roommates unaligned publicly and in the end, this could hurt me. I am not one for declaring such things, I think talk of politics is best done in private, and I was never much of a joiner. I will simply follow the rules, keep my head down, and hope for the best. Whatever happens after that is out of my hands.

Theodore Nott warded the non IS Slytherins and left an open invitation to join. What do you make of this? I am not one to take pleasure in tattling on classmates, but there is this small part of me that feels this would be insurance among my housemates.

My condolences do go out to the MacDougal family, they were good pure-blood sorts, even if they don't support the politics of the day. My brother Christopher knew Towler from his school days, and he said he was a harmless, nerdy sort. I don't want to believe that anyone could be capable of such behavior, but we just can't be certain. Anymore.

First Parvati Patil's mouth was sewn shut. Then it was Morag MacDougal and that Hufflepuff girl eating their letters. I'm beginning to wonder if it would be best to just start skipping breakfast. I want to believe that the ends justify the means, but I'm questioning whether that was just cruelty for cruelty's sake. I will certainly be censoring my letters home, I don't worry much about the letters coming in. Father barely writes, he is a very busy man though. And mother is more concerned with who I'm seeing and what I'm wearing here. And of course Christopher, he can barely strum two sentences together.
Keep my head down, follow the rules, that's the only way to get ahead here.

A gala is a nice way to socialise with your classmates, have an excuse to actually look nice, and enjoy some high quality food. There are far worse ways to spend an evening.
